10 Easy Ideas for Great Content When You've Run Out Of Steam

I stopped blogging a couple of times before, so this time round I created a plan to ensure I don't run out of ideas. Here's 10 I use when the brain's not working.

1. Make an article based on a Wikipedia article
All the info is there, you've just got to spin it into something original.

2. Link Love
Send some link love to sites that interested you in the week.

3. Give Praise
Admire someone in your field? Just write why - and tell them about it!

4. Scour Delicious
Spend 5 minutes browsing any tag in Delicious and you're bound to find at least 10 links to great content you can form a cool list out of.

5. Answer the Question - Forums
Go to a forum in your niche, look for questions, or search the forum (through Google if necessary) for question clues, e.g. "How do I" "What's the best way" etc. Then, write a post answering the question and post a link back in the forum.

6. Answer the Question - Yahoo
Same as above, but specifically on Yahoo Answers - you could go for days on this one.

7. Your Greatest Success/Failure
Write about your greatest success or failure, what you learned from it, why it happened, how it affected you, etcetera.

8. Create a Video / Screencast / Presentation / Drawing / Infographic / Script / Template / Resource
Breakaway from the monotony of the written word, and get creative in a different medium. What's that you say? oh, lots of new ideas coming now ...

9. "How I" not "How To" ...
The Web is swamped with "How to" articles (guilty as charged ...), instead of all the advice, document what you've actually done and the results it achieved, even if they're not spectacular - real world stories resonate with me much more than all the soap-boxing crap out there. How about you?

10. Recycle Something
If you're really desperate, go over your archives and rewrite or reframe older content afresh. Failing that, you could simply create a bunch of links to your old content (you did put all that work into it after all). Going further, pick the best post of your favorite blog and see if you can add something new to the content, and produce that. Bonus points? You guessed it - link to and tell the author.

If you've got other suggestions you can contribute to this list for what you do when you're stuck in a rut, I'd love to hear them below:
